PRESS RELEASE:
National initiative supports cardiovascular practices as they implement new programs to improve outcomes and patient satisfaction, and reduce costs.
NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 1, 2016–
MedAxiom, the nation’s leading cardiovascular performance community committed to improving business and patient care outcomes, and Magellan Health, a leader in the fastest growing, most complex areas of health, today announced the launch of a strategic initiative created to support cardiovascular programs as they develop cardiovascular-specific accountable care organizations (ACO).
MedAxiom and Magellan will collaboratively engage with large cardiology practices across the country to develop innovative management capabilities that leverage value-based reimbursement models, while establishing greater strategic positioning with payers in the market. Through this initiative, MedAxiom and Magellan will:
- Engage with cardiovascular ACO provider groups to analyze economic costs-of-care and identify areas of practice that can either improve quality or reduce unnecessary costs of health care.
- Work to assess program readiness and assist in program development opportunities to successfully manage risk.
- Work with selected cardiovascular physician groups to develop and implement best practice guidelines and procedures for billing and coding, including appropriate workflows, documentation and payer interaction.
“The launch of this initiative is ideally timed as the health care marketplace continues to transition to new payment models in which providers are increasingly aligned with payers around the optimal management of patient conditions that produce the greatest quality at the lowest cost to the health care system,” said Jennifer Linville, founder and chief executive officer of MedAxiom. “This alignment has created an increased accountability for providers to manage chronic conditions with a focus on total value.”
“This initiative offers cardiology groups the opportunity to both maintain their independence and protect their financial security,” said Dr. David Hodges, chief medical officer of cardiovascular programs for Magellan Health. “We’re excited to expand our work with providers as we innovate ways for doctors to thrive in the quickly changing world of health care. We look forward to working with MedAxiom to support cardiovascular-centered ACOs.”
