The Crowd Invest Summit was developed with the vision that every American, through the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act (also known as the JOBS Act), can now be a venture capitalist – or “shark.”

Equity Crowdfunding: Opportunity for All

“The ability to invest in private companies is both a privilege and risk,” said Darren Marble, co-founder of the Crowd Invest Summit. “While early investments in the right companies can lead to big returns, retail investors need to understand how to effectively analyze deals to mitigate their losses. We are honored to have Robert Herjavec speak at The Crowd Invest Summit and are eager to have him share his investment strategies with our attendees.”

Prior to the JOBS Act, only accredited investors – those with income of $200,000 per year individually, or $300,000 with a spouse – could legally invest in private companies. Now, for the first time in more than 80 years, anyone over 18 globally is able to invest. With a recent study by the Kauffman Foundation finding that angel investments have returned an average of 27% internal rate of return (IRR), everyday Americans have started to invest in companies to support the entrepreneurs they believe in and with hopes of generating profits.

Changing Tides: Everyday Americans as Sharks

“From the start, we envisioned building the most mainstream crowdfunding conference in the industry by catering to the people who will ultimately fuel its growth: everyday Americans,” said Marble. “We cannot think of a better ambassador than Robert Herjavec to help us fulfill our mission and we are thrilled at the incredible demand for this event.”

“Robert Herjavec is not just a shark – he is a business icon,” said Josef Holm, co-founder of the Crowd Invest Summit. “We have a real desire to educate everyday Americans and help them evaluate new investment opportunities made available through equity crowdfunding. As with those who are planning to attend our event, we cannot wait to hear what Herjavec has to say.”

“When people watch Shark Tank, they imagine themselves making offers, negotiating with founders and closing deals. I know I do,” said Alon Goren, co-founder of the Crowd Invest Summit. “Today, they no longer have to imagine this scenario. They can actually do it. Who better to educate the crowd about deal making and investing than Herjavec, one of North America’s most recognizable and successful investors?”
