Trov exits private beta and is now publicly available on iPhone in the US

SAN RAMON, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 16, 2014–

Today Trov, the cloud for your things, officially launched its iPhone app in the US. Trov tracks the value of the things people own by automatically collecting relevant product data and organizing it in a personal Trov. Insights are then surfaced for users about their things, including changing market values, that help them make better decisions and take advantage of unique opportunities.

“The world’s information is quickly becoming digitized and accessible via smartphones, but the information about the things people own has yet to find its digital home,” said Scott Walchek, founder and CEO of Trov. “We’re aiming to reinvent the way people manage their things in a digital world so they can benefit more from it.”

To date, the barrier to managing things digitally has been the laborious collection process. Trov is automating collection with its technology and by integrating with world-leading product databases and marketplaces. Trov wants to make the collection process ridiculously easy and automatic. For example:

  • Trov a vehicle: Scan a VIN and get the market value (and other details) of a vehicle from world-leading data provider, Black Book.
  • Trov a home: Use GPS location (or type address) to get current value and other data about homes from Zillow and Title365.
  • Trov anything from e-receipts, barcode, and photos
    • Connect an email inbox to a Trov to parse all past and future purchases from digital receipts.
    • Scan a product barcode and its details are automatically populated, including market value.
    • Snap a photo of something and Trov Auto-ID will identify it, assign a value, and organize it.

“At Trov we’re working hard to make the collection process not just easy, but nearly invisible. In these early days, collecting things may require some manual elements, but soon everything should be automatically in your Trov,” said Dr. Jim Gemmell, co-author of Your Life, Uploaded and CTO of Trov.

Each item in a Trov is assigned a market value and then rolled up in a central dashboard that tracks the total value of your things, replete with timely notifications when the things in a Trov change in value. With this type of information at users’ fingertips, new opportunities are surfaced, such as timely selling, more efficient insurance and better informed management of finances and possessions.

Trov is currently available for free on the iPhone in the US. Download Trov on the App Store or visit trov.com to be notified of the Android version, when it becomes available.
