Booker, the leading platform for service commerce, today announced that its Health, Wellness and Beauty merchants saw a steady increase in gift certificate sales during the 2014 Black Friday weekend.
Approximately 8,500 of Booker’s merchants sold a total of $3.4M in gift certificate revenue over the holiday weekend. Booker merchants enjoyed a total increase of 18% in gift certificate sales and 24% in gift certificate revenue compared to 2013.
While the IBM 2014 Black Friday Sales Report describes a decrease in the value of transactions for all retailers this holiday season, Health, Wellness and Beauty businesses are holding strong. The average value of a gift certificate sold by Booker’s merchants on Black Friday 2014 is $109. This is up slightly from $103 in 2013.

“In fact,” McCarter pointed out, “in 2013, Booker’s merchants sold more gift certificates and earned more than three times the revenue in December than they did on average per month throughout the rest of the year.”

- Booker’s merchants earned an average of $5,400 in gift certificate revenue (per merchant) in December 2013, compared to a monthly average of $1,600 per month between January and November- 3.3 times the monthly average.
