Accomplished CEO now available to evaluate new leadership opportunities
BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–January 23, 2014–
John A. Williams has been appointed a Visiting Scholar at Boston University and will be working as an advisor and director of AcuityBio Corp., a portfolio company within the university’s Office of Technology Development.
“I am now open to evaluating new leadership opportunities,” said Williams. In his most recent position, as CEO of NanElute, Williams identified a major corporate investor for the company who committed to investing $8 million into NanElute.
“Given the founder of NanElute’s subsequent decision to maintain development efforts for the company’s drug-coated balloon platform in India, I am excited about looking at new leadership opportunities and certainly look forward to interacting with BU’s emerging companies in a substantive manner,” said Williams.
Williams, a graduate of Boston University, is an experienced leader with a track record of building and selling publicly and privately held healthcare companies. He successfully took a company public and has raised in excess of $80 million for the companies he has led.
A Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic alumnus, Williams has been particularly accomplished with early-stage companies, four of which were successfully sold. He has taken a life science company public, which, at one point, was ranked number-one in New England for valuation appreciation, and he was subsequently named “CEO of the Year” among portfolio companies for NEA (New Enterprise Associates), one of the world’s largest investors with $11 billion in committed capital.
