From its new Brazilian subsidiary, StarLeaf brings its leading cloud video conferencing services and products to customers throughout the region

LONDON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 13, 2015–

StarLeaf, leading cloud video conferencing service provider and video endpoint manufacturer, has opened a new subsidiary in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to address the growing demand for StarLeaf’s products and services throughout the CALA region, serving both its channel partners and end users.

“We are experiencing an overwhelming pull from Central and Latin America, which is due to a pent up demand for our cloud video conferencing services and products,” said Mark Loney, CEO StarLeaf. “The idea that customers can be served from another region is indefensible – we believe that all of our customers should benefit from our excellent support services and that these need to be delivered in real-time by a local team.”

StarLeaf appointed Sidnei Czarny, an experienced industry executive, as General Manager to set up the operation, recruit channel partners and secure new customers, including Energia Sustentável do Brasil, a consortium responsible for building Jirau, one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in South America. It’s not just StarLeaf that recognizes a growth in video conferencing – an IDC report published in August 2014 noted that the region’s year-over-year expenditure increased by 9.1% in 2014. However, StarLeaf expects rapid expansion by focusing upon the communications and collaboration needs of SMEs and large enterprises alike.

“The growth of video has been dominated by expenditure from government and large enterprises. However, 90% of businesses in CALA are small to medium sized companies, and to-date they have been precluded from buying into video because of the high price tag and complexity of on-premise infrastructure,” said Sidnei Czarny, General Manager for StarLeaf CALA. “With the StarLeaf Cloud and its tightly integrated range of video endpoints, we have an opportunity to address a massively under-served section of the market that is crying-out for affordable video collaboration and the benefits it delivers.”
